Community leaders in Hanover Park are optimistic that their march over the past weekend to combat gangsterism will reap rewards.
Residents accompanied members of the “People Against Gangsterism and Drugs” -Pagad G Force – as they raided houses believed to be where gangsters reside.
In recent months, the area has experienced a spike in gang activities.
In the latest incident, two people – including a teenage girl were shot and wounded in separate incidents.
The CPF’s Ebrahim Abrahams was in attendance and says he is positive the conversations held will limit gang-related shootings.
” Up to now things have changed, there’s been no shooting, before the match there were shootings every day. Let’s hope and get fingers crossed hoping that things will remain this way or these gangsters will not return to their abnormal way”.
