The Overstrand Municipality has reversed some of its rates and taxes, following a series of protests.
Scores of people from Zwelihle, Hawston, and Mount Pleasant took to the streets over high municipal rates.
The officials from the municipality held talks with community leaders this week.
The municipality has since suspended exorbitant charges, with immediate effect.
This will remain in place pending the finalisation of the investigation into complaints about high accounts, and water restrictions, among other things.
Community leader, Gcobani Ndzon-gana says they’re happy with the decision.
