Western Cape police authorities say more charges are likely to be added against alleged criminal mastermind, Yanga Nyalara.

The 30-year-old appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday, following his arrest in Bothasig last week.

He’s facing at least 31 charges including six counts of murder, attempted murder, possession of a firearm and drugs.

It’s alleged that he was involved in the murder of 19 people in Khayelitsha, last year.

Nyalara’s arrest comes after a cash reward of R100 000 that was offered by the police.

His case has been postponed until 18 August 2022.

Police spokesperson, Andrè Traut, says the community played a massive role in the arrest.

“SAPS would like to express their appreciation to the public for providing valuable information and assisting us to create a safe environment for communities by removing ruthless criminals from our streets.”
