Police have launched an investigation after a man was shot and killed in Lansdowne.

A woman and a 12-month-old baby were also injured in the shooting.

It’s understood that the unknown gunmen opened fire on the victims travelling in a vehicle, on the corners of Jan Smuts Drive and Turfhall Road, last night.

The suspects fled in a red Opel Corsa and are yet to be arrested.

It’s alleged that the 23-year-old deceased was a prominent gang member in Hanover Park.

The police’s Andrè Traut says they believe that the motive of the shooting could be gang-related.

“The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old male, was shot and killed. While his two passengers, a 25-year-old female and one-year-old baby, were injured. The injured victims were admitted to a local medical facility.
