A new investigator has been appointed to look into the murder of four-year-old Tamia Botha in Paarl East.

The police officer is believed to be more experienced, and according to the Paarl East Community Policing Forum’s Edgar Petersen, it’s something that’s needed.

“The docket has been handed over from the initial investigator to a new investigator – as was the request by the Paarl East CPF. And the province also now placed pressure on the FCS [Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences] to put more experience into the Mia Botha case.”

The child went missing on the 25th of September — her body was found the next day.

As the investigation continues, Petersen has pleaded with the Paarl community not to resort to violence.

Little Tamia will be laid to rest on Friday.
