A Piketberg police officer accused of murdering Natasha Booise has resigned from his position.
Richard Smit returned to the local magistrate’s court, on Tuesday.
The court resumed with his bail application, where investigating officer, Warrant Officer Ronald Davids , was cross examined by defence lawyer, William Booth.
The court also heard that in 2014, Smit was arrested for shooting at his father. Fortunately, he was not injured.
Smit’s father ran into a neighbour’s house.
Davids also told the court that if Smit is released on bail, his life would be in danger.
The case has been postponed until April for Booth to continue with his cross examination.
