The mother of one of the cops accused of extorting Chinese nationals in Milnerton, is shattered.
The teary woman spoke to Heart FM News outside the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Her daughter is one of eight active police members accused of extorting R28,000 from two Chinese-owned shops.
One former cop is also implicated.
According to this mother, her child was simply acting on instructions from senior officers and did not act with intent.
The group is charged with extortion, aggravated robbery, using a vehicle without authorisation and defeating the ends of justice.
They’ve all been remanded in custody until their bail application on the 22nd of October.

The officers have, since been suspended with pay, pending the outcome of this case as well as parallel disciplinary processes.
