The Western Cape Education Department says it’s on track to build mobile classrooms for learners in Kraaifontein, Cape Town.
This follows a long delay in plans to accommodate Grade 8 learners in the area.
The WCED, who received the go-ahead in February, had planned to build classrooms, but little work had been done since.
It says this was the result of the contractor not having received the materials to do so.
But according to WCED’s Bronagh Hammond, this is no longer an issue.
“The contractor received some delays in receiving some of the materials hence not work being undertaken recently, delaying the completion of the project. The contractor has informed the department that he has received the material and will be on-site this week.”
