The Speaker of the Western Cape Legislature faces misconduct charges.
The DA’s Federal Legal Commission has recommended that Masizole Mnqasela be charged, following an investigation.
The party’s Federal Executive has accepted the findings.
The investigation pertains to alleged corruption and fraud in which he had misused funds.
The DA’s Provincial chairperson, Jaco Londt, says the investigation is still ongoing.
“As required by the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act, the DA has also reported the matter to the Hawks for investigation — including the documentary evidence provided in the protector disclosures. The DA has a zero-tolerance approach to corruption and when evidence-based allegations arise, we hold our office bearers to account without fear or favour.”
