The Umkhonto Wesizwe Party has won its first ward in the Western Cape.
It snatched Ward 1 in Saldanha Bay from the ANC, during yesterday’s by-election.
The ward became vacant following the death of the ANC councillor, Siyabulelo Liwani, in December, last year.
The MKP received just under 34% of votes .
