Western Cape Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC Reagen Allen says he will ask for the report that investigated claims of police officers colluding with gangs, to be shared with him.

National police commissioner, General Fannie Masemola says the report has been concluded and he’ll be briefed about its contents.

He indicated he would need a month to go through it.

Masemola launched the investigation following remarks made by Western Cape High Court Judge, Daniel Thulare, in 2022.

In one of his judgments, he suggested that 28s gang had advanced knowledge of the provincial police’s sensitive operations, as well as access to its internal reports.

The provincial government was appalled by the comments, and then called on the top brass to take action against all those implicated.

Allen says he would like to see the contents of this crucial report.

“ Judge Thulare’s utterances still ring loudly in my ears and continues to leave a bitter taste in my mouth. We will engage the South African Police Service to request to get insight into this particular report. This is an important matter that required urgent attention”.
