Transport authorities in the Western Cape will convene a meeting with taxi associations, following the recent attacks on buses and private vehicles.

Mobility MEC Daylin Mitchell has called the urgent meeting following violence in Nyanga and Crossroads, last week.

Officials from the City Cape Town, taxi association Cata, and representatives of the Amaphela operators will be attending this meeting.

Golden Arrow busses, police vehicles and a delivery vehicle were targeted over the past week.

City traffic services had been impounding illegal and roadworthy Amaphela vehicles.

It’s understood that these riots have been in retaliation to those enforcement operations.

A reward of up to R100 000 has been offered for information that leads to an arrest connected with the taxi violence.
