It appears tensions are brewing between provincial and national governments when it comes to policing.
Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC Reagen Allen is accusing Police Minister Bheki Cele of working in silos in a bid to address crime in the province.
On Tuesday, Cele attended a community meeting with residents of Gugulethu and Nyanga.
That gathering discussed issues of policing resources in those crime hotspots.
The MEC says his office, the City of Cape Town and the Provincial CPF board were not invited to attend the meeting.
But according to the reports, it wasn’t organised by the Police Ministry either.
Allen says fighting crime needs a collective approach.
“Part of the reason why criminals are still able to function is due to them being organized and working together. If we’re to be effective in our crime fighting efforts, to be better than the criminals we’re up against, we require all spheres of government, the private sector and civil society at large to steer in the same direction”.
