The Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu, has issued a stern warning to provincial political heads to refrain from politicising the crime problem in Cape Town.

Mchunu had been speaking from the City Hall, on Tuesday, where all Local, Provincial and National government law enforcers had met to launch a co-operation agreement, aimed at quelling uncontrollable violence in and around the city.

They’re expected to sign the agreement on Friday.

For several years, there’s been tension between the DA-led provincial and local administrations and Mchunu’s predecessor, Bheki Cele.

Mchunu says it’s time to put those differences on the back-burner and deal with life-threatening crime, affecting our communities.
