National police commissioner Fannie Masemola says the rise in mass shootings is a serious concern that needs immediate action.

Three mass shootings were reported in Cape Town, between Wednesday and Sunday, alone.

At least 15 people have been killed in those attacks.

Arrests have only been made in connection with the Bishop Lavis incident.

The police’s investigation into the attacks in Atlantis and Khayelitsha, continues.

Masemola says a comprehensive response is needed to prioritise public safety – and address the root causes of violence to combat this troubling trend.

He’s assured the public that efforts are being intensified to tackle the ongoing threats posed by gun violence:
