The man convicted for the murder of first-year UWC student, Jesse Hess, will be behind bars for life.
David van Boven – and his co-accused, Tasliem Ambrose – heard their fate in the Western Cape High Court today.
Hess and her grandfather, Chris Lategan, were murdered at the Parow home in 2019.
The investigations revealed that Van Boven committed the murders and that Ambrose was involved in robbing their home.
The police’s Ndakhe Gwala says they welcome the sentence imposed on them.
“David Van Boven was sentenced to two life imprisonment for murder, 40 years for the two counts of robbery, eight years for sexual assault and three years for fraud. The sentences will run concurrent with the life sentence. Tasliem Ambrose was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment for two counts of robbery.”
