A man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his mother and niece in Bishop Lavis.

The suspect was caught on Saturday, after the victims’ bodies were discovered at a house in Kalksteenfontein.

The police’s Joseph Swartbooi says the motive for the attack is unknown at this stage.

“Bishop Lavis police attended a complaint on Saturday morning, the 23rd of July. Upon arrival at the crime scene in Panoster Square, they found the bodies of two females inside the dwelling. The victims – aged 65 and 12 – were both declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. A 39-year-old male has been arrested and detained on a charge of murder.”
