Kensington ward councillor, Helen Jacobs, says crime is becoming a problem in the Ghost Town informal settlement at the Maitland cemetery.
It is alleged that gangsters are using the area for criminal activities.
Earlier this week, a man was gunned down and a woman was wounded.
Jacobs says the area is a hub for gangsters.
“Some of the activities there is the cable theft, also some of the elements that move in – we get gangs, rival gangs, now start fighting each other. Then it becomes like a hub where the criminals get together and start doing different things from there”
Police are still on the lookout for those responsible for the shooting incident that took place there on Monday, 18 July 2022.
The suspect, or suspects, are yet to be identified.
