A Macassar community wants answers following the discovery of a child’s body.
The body of a girl was found in a canal in Marvin Park on Sunday the 12th of March.
It’s being speculated that the deceased is the 10-year-old girl who was reported missing the day before.
The identity of the deceased has however not yet been confirmed.
Police say a post-mortem is being conducted to determine the cause of the child’s death.
Earlier the police confirmed that three people who were taken in for questioning were released, as they cannot be linked to the case yet.
“The investigation into the matter is still ongoing and more people can be taken in for questioning as the investigation unfolds”, said Captain FC van Wyk.
Community activist Anneline Hartzenberg  is calling for more to be done to protect women and children.
“Something like this will never happen to our children again in Macassar. It is unacceptable to live like this and our children are not safe. The fight starts right now, and I’m very angry”.
