More Intercape bus drivers have come under attack in Cape Town.

On Wednesday evening, images of a bus that veered off the Jakes Gerwal off-ramp done the rounds on social media.

The long-distance bus company, Intercape, has since confirmed that the incident came after the bus driver was shot.

The company says the attack on the driver took place on the N2 Highway near Nyanga.

Shortly after that incident, another driver was shot in the same area — but managed to escape unharmed.

Intercape says no passengers were on board either of the buses at the time of the incidents.

This is the third incident since Sunday, and the Western Cape’s Mobility MEC, Daylin Mitchell, has condemned the ongoing attacks.

“I am deeply saddened and angry at yet another shooting incident in which drivers of a long-distance bus company were targeted by unknown gunmen last night. This is the third incident in this week alone in which drivers of the company’s buses have been shot at in cold blood by thugs whose sole aim is to intimidate and harass the employees and owners of the company.”
