Re-offending parolees have unlocked massive concern in some Cape communities.

Recently, Wesbank ward councillor Ebrahiem Sawant, shared these views with HEARTFM News, during and interview about escalating gun violence.


This week, the Western Cape Legislature heard that more than 3,000 inmates were released on parole last year.

By November of that same year, around 4% had re-offended.

And Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC Anroux Marais, says she’s made contact with Correctional Services Minister, Pieter Groenewald, to discuss legislative reforms.

And he confirms they are in talks ….
