The Knysna Council is threatening to approach the courts, if it is dissolved.
During a special council meeting on Friday, it voted to interdict any decision to place it under administration.
Western Cape Local Government MEC, Anton Bredell, plans to dissolve the council and allow for fresh by-elections across all wards.
He says his decision is based on ongoing serious governance and service delivery concerns.
The council sent its response and motivation to Bredell that same day, explaining why the status quo, should remain as is.
