The suspects who kidnapped a Bangladeshi business owner in Mitchells Plain, have demanded ransom.

37-year-old Akter Pradhan was allegedly kidnapped on Wespoort Drive last Friday.

This is the most recent incident in a spate of reported kidnappings of Bangladeshi business people in the Metro.

A close friend of the victim, Azam Khan, says the suspects had called two days after the incident requesting millions for the victim’s safe return.

“We received a phone call demanding R20 million ransom, which we can’t get. We negotiate each and every time they call and still demand R20 million, which we don’t have”.
