Efforts to help Kensington land invaders with bulk services, have been unsuccessful.
Around 300 people at the Gate Seven informal settlement, are demanding water and ablution facilities.
They’re are worried about the health complications they may suffer if the situation doesn’t improve.
The City of Cape Town can’t help the families because they’ve invaded private property.
Ward councillor, Cheslyn Steenberg, says his hands are tied now…..
He’s calling on the Ndabeni Trust to get its house in order and safeguard the property….
Meanwhile, the sole trustee, Advocate Anda Njeza, says he’s requested funding from the Land Claims Commission.
But there’s not been a favourable response.
Njeza says he can’t take legal action against the occupiers without assistance.
He adds that the City of Cape Town’s even tried to take over the land due to outstanding municipal fees.
