President Cyril Ramaphosa is likely to appoint Gauteng High Court President Dustin Mlambo as the new Deputy Chief Justice.

That’s according to advocacy groups, Judge Matters and Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution.

Mlambo was among three candidates interviewed by the JSC for the position, this week.

The Commission has recommended his name to President Ramaphosa for appointment.

Allison Tilley, from Judge Matters, says Mlambo showed a very good understanding of the judiciary.

CASAC’s Lawson Naidoo says Mlambo comes with vast experience.
