Judge Nathan Erasmus has handed down his sentence in the Joshlin Smith trial.
Her mother Kelly Smith, Jacquen Apollis and Steveno van Rhyn have been sentenced to life in prison for human trafficking.
Coupled with this, they have also been given a 10 year sentence for kidnapping.
Erasmus took into into consideration this week’s testimony and arguments in mitigation and aggravation of sentence.
He says the child’s mother, Kelly Smith, continued to show no emotion.
He also lambasted the state’s key witness Lorencia Lombaard.
He says she stared Joshlin in the face and did absolutely nothing to save her.
Erasmus has also shot down the defences argument that Joshlin Smith did not suffer any harm…..
Western Cape Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Nicolette Bell has welcomed the sentence….
