Gangsters often target the youth to do their dirty work.

It’s a phenomenon that is seen in all gang infested communities, and it is for this reason that various community based organisations, work to try to prevent this.

An initiative called “The First 100”, is one that’s underway in Hanover Park.

It targets boys aged between 8 and 17, who are at risk.

The aim of the initiative is to provide them with support,to prevent a life of criminality.

A session was held in Hanover Park over the weekend.

20 of the boys who’re participating in the programme, along with their parents, will meet with the organisers.

The co-founder of the Community Foundation, Yaaseen Johaar, explains.
