The 2024 ILGA World Conference is starting today.

This event is the world’s largest gathering of LGBTQIA+ change-makers.

The conference provides a platform to assess progress, share best practices, and form partnerships.

Attendees will also discuss the future of the movement and strategise ways to advance global equality.

This year’s 31st edition will take place from today until Friday, here in Cape Town.

At a media briefing, last week, participants voiced concerns about LGBTQIA+ rights following Donald Trump’s election win.

Julia Ehrt, from ILGA World, warns that the election outcome could have serious negative effects on the queer community worldwide.
