The International Atomic Energy Agency has completed a safety inspection at Eskom’s Koeberg nuclear power plant.
Leader of the project, Gabor Petofi, says the team looked at the management of ageing mechanical, electrical, and civil systems.
Eskom’s safety measures, structures and components, and it’s knowledge management and human resource strategies were also inspected.
Petofi says a final report on the inspection will be delivered to the South African government in three months.
National government has been forging ahead with plans to increase the nuclear plant’s lifespan by another 20 years.
