The community of Hermanus continues to mourn the death of matric student, Sisipho Mayile.
Sisipho was reported missing in January, with her body found in bushes near Camphil Bridge later that month.
Members of the Hermanus community, was joined by Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament, Masizole Mnqasela, in a march calling for justice on Monday.
Mnqasela has called on the communities throughout the province to speak out against all forms of gender-based violence.
“There’s no excuse. Whether people abuse alcohol or other substance abuse. That can never be an excuse to the abuse of our women and children, and that’s something that we need to take very seriously and take a stand… Our women and children deserve better, they deserve to be protected.” – Masizole Mnqasela, Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament
