A Fish Hoek man allegedly beaten by two police officers has filed a case against them.

He is accusing them of intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Meanwhile one of the police in question has opened a counter case of assault against the man.

The resident is seen in a video being assaulted by cops in Emerald Crescent, over the weekend.

It’s understood that the two officers responded to a complaint in the area about a missing person.

Two investigations are underway – both IPID and the police’s provincial top brass are following the incident.

Western Cape Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa  said “The man in the video has been sent to a medical facility for treatment and he too opened an assault GBH case against the police officials. The docket will be referred to the IPID. It is also worth noting that one of the police officials captured in the video has opened a case of assault against a police official at the Fish Hoek police station against the man in the video”.
