The Mpumalanga Education Department is catching heat after spending over R2 million on 22 laptops
Each laptop cost more than R90,000 but the real kicker is they didn’t even get what they paid for.
The supplier delivered lower-grade laptops but claimed they met the required specs.
Some department officials reportedly helped cover it up by using outdated requirements and limiting which suppliers could bid.
Even worse, the same officials who were allegedly part of the problem, led the internal investigation and misled Premier Mandla Ndlovu and MEC Catherine Dlamini.
The Premier’s spokesperson George Mthethwa says they are not letting this slide…
