Floyd Shivambu has quit the Economic Freedom Fighters, and will now join the Umkhonto weSizwe Party.
The EFF held a press briefing on Thursday afternoon, where Shivambu officially announced his resignation as the party’s deputy president, a position he’s held since 2013.
Shivambu says he’d written to EFF leader, Julius Malema on Wednesday 14th of August, in which he made his intentions clear.
The 41-year-old will now take up a position, within the newly formed MK Party.
The party founded by former President Jacob Zuma, shockingly outnumbered the EFF in the May 2024 General Elections.
Having pulled the biggest surprise, when it managed to claim the third most votes nationally.
A visibility-pained Malema, has accepted Shivambu’s resignation.
He’s told the media that several others are expected to follow suit, including another controversial figure, Jimmy Manyi.
