
An internal investigation is currently underway after two police officers allegedly assaulted a member of the public in Fish Hoek.
In a video that went viral, two officers are seen trying to grab the victim and drag him into the back of a police van.
One officer can be seen repeatedly hitting the man with a police baton.
Some members of the public tried to stop the officers, but the cops continued dragging him.
Police watchdog, IPID, has also confirmed that it is probing the incident.
Spokesperson, Novela Potelwa, says the internal investigation will determine if two cops have violated the SAPS disciplinary code.
“Since captured in a video – where two Fish Hoek police officials are in an altercation with an unidentified man, are the subject of an internal SAPS investigation led by a senior police officer from the district level.”
