The State is expected to call its first witness in the Emaan Solomons murder trial on Wednesday – more than 4 years after she’d allegedly fallen victim to gang warfare in Ocean View, Cape Town.
Eben Basson and Chivargo Fredericks have pleaded not guilty to 10 charges in the Western Cape High Court, where they’re standing trial.
The court conducted an in-loco inspection of the crime scene on Tuesday.
The main charge is that of murder for the February 2020 killing of the 7-year-old girl.
Little Emaan had been playing right in front of her family home, when suspected gangsters opened fire.
The State says Basson and Fredericks allegedly targeted a rival gangster, but missed and hit Emaan instead – a claim they vehemently deny.
Her father, Azmir Oosthuizen, says it’s been a very difficult 4 years, and they want the matter to be finalised so that the family can find closure.
