The Khayelitsha Development Forum says the extortion of Eskom staff must be condemned.
Last week, Eskom halted operations in Harare after their workers were asked to pay money by alleged gangsters.
However, following a meeting with the police, the forum and Eskom, services have resumed.
The KDF’s Ndithini Thyido says the time has come to deal with those who buy stolen property.
But he says they don’t encourage people to disregard rules.
“At the same time, we doing this responsibly so that we don’t encourage the community to take the law in its own hands. We trying to engage in programmes and campaigns that seek to mobilise communities, so that criminals and extortionists will be isolated and be unmasked.”
