The Economic Freedom Fighters’ march for land in Stellenbosch has started.
It’s led by its leader Julius Malema.
The march is taking takes on the anniversary of the arrival of the white settlers in the country.
The members of the party will gather outside the home of businessman Johann Rupert, whom they claim has stolen land.
The party also demands that the municipality release more land to build homes for the poor people in the town.
EFF provincial chairperson, Melikhaya Xego says the municipality has no intention to improve lives of people who stay in informal settlements.
“You will find many people, especially black ones congested in informal settlements. Every time the issue of human settlements comes up; the municipality say there’s no land”.
