Cyber criminals have been having a field day at the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.

300 million Rand has been stolen from the Department over the last decade.

Most recently, 24 million has been stolen just last month.

A full-scale forensic investigation is now underway, involving the Hawks, SAPS, State Security Agency and experts in the cyber security fraternity.

The questions, though, is how could this have gone on, undetected for so long?

Public Works and Infrastructure Minister, Dean Macpherson says they cannot rule out the possibility of an inside job.

Four senior DPWI officials have since been suspended, while 30 laptops have been seized by investigators.
