The two children who’d gone missing during the Riverlands Dam burst on Thursday morning, have been found alive.
The two retention dams above Riverlands Dam in the Swartland Municipality have collapsed.
Fourteen people have been hospitalised for medical treatment.
Engineers from the Department of Water Affairs, Swartland Municipality and City of Cape Town, say the cause of the flooding is a ruptured dam wall.
They’ll also determine whether evacuation is needed.
Humanitarian aid organisation, Gift of the Givers, is responding to the disaster.
Heinrich Robertson Spokesperson for the West Coast Disaster Management says an update will be released shortly.
