
Trade union federation, Cosatu in the Western Cape is calling on workers to down tools as it will embark on a strike against government failures, on Monday.
The protest action is not expected to have an impact, as taxi operators refused to participate.
Cosatu demands that government address load shedding, the high unemployment rate and crime and corruption.
The marchers will hand over a memorandum of demands to the Provincial Government and Parliament.
Cosatu provincial secretary, Malvern De Bruyn says workers from all sectors of the economy are legally protected to go on strike.
” Cosatu in the Western Cape is calling on all workers to come in their big numbers. All workers are protected, whether or not they are affiliated to Cosatu. We also warn employers to refrain from taking action against workers who will be participating in the strike. We appeal to all workers to report any employer who victimizes workers who will participate as the strike is legally protected.
