Taxi association, Codeta believes that the recent murders in Paarl could be related to the contentious B97 route.
As a result, the association has temporarily withdrawn its services between Mbekweni and Bellville.
This is pending the talks between two rival taxi associations.
Siyabulela Mandyoli, the chairperson of CODETA Paarl Taxi Alliance, was gunned down outside his Mbekweni home last week Tuesday.
Four days later, a member of CATA Boland Taxi Association, was found dead in his vehicle.
Provincial transport authorities reopened the route last year, after a deadly feud between the Paarl Taxi Alliance and the Boland Taxi Association.
Codeta’s Nceba Enge said, ” Because the person who was shot dead, was the chairperson of a taxi association that’s actually affiliated to Codeta. Subsequent to that another person who belonged to CATA Boland Taxi Association was killed. You could see that this is around B97 based on what happened”.
