Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department has hit back at the South African Human Rights Commission over its comments on sewage-related issues in the City.

The commission visited Kraaifontein, last week, following a series of complaints of unattended sewage.

The HRC claimed the matter is not receiving urgent attention from the municipality.

The city says the main problem is the continued misuse and abuse of the sewer network.

MAYCO member, Zahid Badroodien says the issue should not be politicised.

He adds that the City has attended to the issues.
