Cape Town Safety and Security bosses say they’re on high alert to prevent any possible form of criminality, during any form of a national shutdown.

The City says it has noted planned protest action today over the fuel price hikes.

Despite the reports, some major organisations including COSATU and SANTACO, have distanced themselves from the event.

Several areas across the Metro have been considered high-risk locations.

The City says while the police are responsible for public order policing, they will provide support.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith says their officers will be in full force.
