The State and defence are preparing their closing arguments in a Mitchells Plain child murder case.

These arguments will be delivered in the Western Cape High Court on the 2nd of September 2024.

Cameron Julius and Chadwin Williams are on trial for the December 2019 murder of 10-year-old Ayesha Kelly.

The State claims they shot at a rival gangster in Tafelsig but missed their target, and instead fatally wounded the child, who was making her way to a shop at the time.

Julius is alleged to have been the triggerman, while the suspected murder weapon had been found in Williams’ possession.

Julius had testified in his own defence this week, telling the court that while he and Williams were together, they’d been en-route to buy drugs, when they heard shots ringing out.

He’s also claimed that another member of the Hard Livings gang, which they’d both been members of at the time, was responsible for the shooting.

Slain Ayesha’s mother, Inshaaf Kelly, says she wants the case to be finalised, as it’s been nearly 5 years since her daughter’s murder.
