The City of Cape Town says its electrician, who was injured when a vandalised power cable exploded in Gugulethu, has died.
Terence Stringer passed away at hospital last week.
Earlier this month, Stringer, and five others, were injured when the damaged cables exploded.
Mayco Member for Energy, Beverley van Reenen, says they’re saddened by Stringer’s death.
“It is utterly devastating that a colleague’s life has been lost due to the impact of infrastructure vandalism, while in the line of duty. We remember him for his commitment to his work and for always going the extra mile. The City has lost a valuable staff member, and our thoughts are with his wife and family.”
