Two City of Cape Town Law enforcement officers, have been accused of corruption and extortion.

They were arrested by members of the Hawks, this morning.

The officers allegedly targeted foreign owned spaza shops in Table View and Philippi East.

They’re believed to have perpetrated these crimes, earlier this year.

According to the Hawks, the suspects were out on bail in connection with similar crimes, they’d allegedly committed in May.

The pair will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Hawks spokesperson, Zinzi Hani explains.

Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town says the two officers will be suspended.

The City’s Wayne Dyason says they will take further steps.
