A Housing advocacy group is closely watching the City of Cape Town’s handling of the Cissie Gool House redevelopment.
Reclaim the City wants local government to ensure nobody is left homeless.
The municipality wants to transform the old Woodstock Hospital site into a few hundred housing units.
But, the building is currently occupied by evictees from Salt River and Woodstock.
They’re, now, concerned they’ll be sidelined.
Reclaim the City’s Karen Hendricks, she’s discussed a 2019 report with the mayor.
That report reportedly reveals that the site can be developed without impacting the occupiers.
