The conviction of a Klawer child’s murderer has been welcomed.
Daniel Smit killed 13 year old Jerobijn Van Wyk, in February 2022.
He accused the teenager and a friend of stealing fruit from his property.
The 58 year old is on trial in the Western Cape High Court, sitting in Vredendal.
On Monday, he was convicted on charges of murder, attempted murder, violating a corpse and defeating the ends of justice.
Sentencing proceedings will resume today.
