The Nelson Mandela Bay special council sitting has descended into chaos.
The meeting has been adjourned for about 20 minutes after it began promptly at 8 am.
It’s understood that the EFF, UDM, UF and ANC councillors have walked out of the meeting.
Issues related to a disagreement over the agenda.
The opposition parties wanted to vote on the position of Council Speaker Jonathan Lawack first, but the order paper says the first item is the motion against embattled mayor Atholl Trollip.
It’s not quite clear why the opposition parties wanted the speaker to be removed first ahead of the motion of no confidence vote in Trollip.
Trollip, however, says he is confident he will survive the EFF-led motion.
