Police Minister, Bheki Cele, says gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide can be defeated if men join the fight against the scourge.
He was speaking at the Imbizo for Men in Khayelitsha, on Monday.
The meeting was to engage with the men on the roles they could play to end the matter.
According to recent crime statistics, more than 1000 rape cases were reported in the first quarter of this year.
Cele says men must come on board to tackle the GBV.
